TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with CBD College vs TAFE (and other fee-free providers)

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with CBD College vs TAFE (and other fee-free providers)

Fee-free courses seem like a good idea from an economic perspective but there are some pretty major drawbacks that you need to consider before you embark on this qualification….

1. Completion Time

Why spend 12-24 months on a Certificate IV course? There is absolutely no need to do that. Enrolling in a course that takes you that long will possibly affect job prospects, may lead to uncertainty, create burn-out and fatigue as well as lead to the possibility of having a negative learning experience that will turn you off the VET sector for life. It shouldn’t be that way!

At CBD College, we have designed a course that you can complete quickly if you wish (or one where you can take your own sweet time if work and family commitments have to take precedence).

2. Completion Rate

Did you know that TAFE TAE fee-free course completion rates sit somewhere around approximately 10-20%? That means that chances are, you will start a course and never complete it.

CBD College boasts completion rates of close to 90%. The only individuals who tend not to complete the CBD College course are those who find they no longer require the qualification, often due to career changes or promotions.

We attribute this exceptionally high completion rate to having materials that make sense to people, the support we offer to our students throughout the time they are enrolled in our course and our expert trainers who are passionate about what they do. As an independent training organisation, we are free to make the decision to only hire the best in the market. At CBD College, we only employ the best in the industry! 3. Assessments That Make Sense

Our TAE specialists, who hold Masters Degrees in Education, have developed our unique, holistic integrated course. This means training and assessment is delivered in subjects rather than via a dreary, unit-by-unit approach that TAFE and other RTOs use. For example, rather than requiring our students to complete one assessment where they design training and another assessment where they deliver training, our students are required to plan for a training session, deliver it and then reflect on it afterwards. The problem with a unit-by-unit approach is it is not reflective of the real world. Everything is covered in isolation and as a student you don’t get a chance to put everything together. You do an assessment without any context. It is hard work and it often makes no sense.

On top of these issues, the training and assessment materials in many unit-by-unit providers are off-the-rack, meaning that they have been purchased from people that make a living designing assessments by reverse engineering units of competency. These materials are often written by AI or by humans with absolutely no experience in the unit itself. They tick compliance boxes, but they usually make absolutely no sense.

One other problem with a unit-by-unit approach is that there is a lot of overlap in the units. Students completing this type of assessment will find themselves doing the same thing over and over again. The course becomes laborious and tedious.

Which leads to our next point :

4. Check out our Google reviews

Our Google and Product Reviews provide undisputed and undeniable proof that students respect our courses, facilities, trainers, and, most importantly, the support we offer our students. Click here to see over 1600 of them. Try searching for an equivalent number of 5-star Google reviews for your local TAFE college or an RTO offering this qualification for free. You'll likely have a tough time finding anything remotely positive about the TAE40122 courses they offer. There's a reason for that!

Why is CBD College not offering the course for free?

We are an independent training organisation who has never participated in government programs offering free courses. We value students who are genuinely interested in learning, committed to completing their qualification and willing to contribute to their education. We believe in creating an enjoyable learning experience where we can help our students to quickly elevate their professional careers. If you are interested in achieving your qualification and becoming a trainer and assessor sooner rather than later, CBD College is the place for you.
